MR. YOGENDRA PRASAD assumed the charge of CMD, NHPC on 01st October 1997 and imparted a new direction and dimension not only to NHPC but to the entire hydro sector in the country. I started my career with Bihar State Electricity Board in 1968 and after tenure of 10 years in BSEB, joined NHPC in 1978. • Received International Commission on Large Dams(ICOLD) award for exceptional contribution for hydro development. He was the first and only Indian to be conferred this prestigious award.
• Received Author's Gold award by HRW magazine, USA for his article entitled “Financing of Dam for Hydro Power Project”. The article was ranked as No.1
• Received 'Eminent Engineer' award from Institution of Engineers.
• Commissioned as "Honorary Texan" by the Governor of Texas, USA during December 1991.
• Received an award on 20th January 2000 from the Prime Minister of India on behalf of Institution for Engineers for Contribution towards Promotion of Hydro Development in the country.
• Received "2003 IMM Award for Excellence as Top CEO".
• "Energy Man of the year 2002-03" from World Institute of Building Programme, the international association of Education and world peace in Association with Institute of Ecology and Environment for outstanding contribution in the area of eco-friendly hydro power development in India.
• Received the prestigious "Diamond Jubilee Award" from Central Board of Irrigation and Power (CBIP)
• Received Bhartiya Shiromani Puraskar on 17th November 2008 from Institute of Economic Studies. For valuable contribution towards completion of Maneri Bhali Stage-II HEP 76x4 (304MW)
• Received National Business Leadership Award and Gold Medal from Indian Society for Industry mid Intellectual Development (ISIID), New Delhi on 26. March 2009.
• Received Rashtriya Rattan Award from Citizens Integration Peace Society, New Delhi on 23rd May 2009.
